Steps

The Labii Steps widget is a new feature that allows users to track the progress of their projects and tasks by breaking them down into individual steps. The widget provides a clear overview of the status of each step, with the ability to add variables or comments to each step for additional context or details.

Features

The Labii Steps widget is designed to help users track the progress of each step in a given process. It includes several features that allow users to customize and navigate through the steps as needed.

1. Richtext to format the content of each step
2. Load steps directly from a *.txt, *.docx, or *.md file
3. Support for inserting files, widgets, and text
4. Restrict Editing to add observations and variables
5. Add results for each step in a designated section accessed through the "Add results" button
6. Track step completion and progress
7. Verify step to meet regulatory requirements
8. Timer for precise timing experiments
9. Perform experiments by following each step in a sequence

Richtext to format the content of each step

Richtext

The Labii Steps widget uses rich text to allow users to format the content of each step. With rich text, users can format their text in a variety of ways, such as changing the font type and size, bolding or italicizing text, creating bulleted or numbered lists, and adding hyperlinks. This feature enables users to present their content in a more visually appealing and organized manner. Additionally, users can add images and videos to their step content, making it even more dynamic and engaging. By using rich text, users have greater flexibility and control over how they present their information, ensuring that their experiment procedures are communicated as clearly and effectively as possible.

Support for inserting files, widgets, and text

The Labii Steps widget has an "Insert" function that lets users easily add text from templates and files of any type to a step. Additionally, users can add other widgets to extend step functionality, such as checklists or timers. This feature increases efficiency and organization of experiment procedures, making them easier to manage and more effective.

Restrict Editing to add observations and variables

The "Restrict Editing" feature in Labii Steps widget allows users to mark specific parts of the step content as editable or non-editable. This feature enables users to collect variables and add comments to only certain parts of the step while keeping the rest of the content uneditable. This helps to ensure the integrity of the experiment procedure while providing the necessary flexibility for adding observations and variables to each step.

Track step completion and progress

The "Complete" action in Labii Steps widget is a feature that enables users to track the status of each step in an experiment procedure. When a user clicks the "Complete" button for a particular step, Labii tracks that the step has been finished and changes the background color of the step to teal. Additionally, Labii records the username and datestamp of the completion of the step. This allows users to easily keep track of which steps have been completed and by whom, providing better organization and accountability in experiment procedures.

Verify step to meet regulatory requirements

Verify a step

The "Verify" action in Labii Steps widget is a feature that allows additional users to verify the experimental process. Once a step has been completed, a user with appropriate permissions can click the "Verify" button to indicate that they have independently reviewed the completed step and found it to be accurate and complete. This feature is particularly useful in meeting regulatory requirements like Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), which often require independent verification of experimental processes.

Timer for precise timing experiments

The timer function in Labii Steps widget is designed to help users perform the countdown requirement for experimental processes. This feature is particularly useful for experiments that require precise timing, such as enzymatic reactions, incubation periods, or centrifugation times. The timer ensures that the user follows the experimental protocol accurately, reducing the likelihood of experimental error and increasing the accuracy and reproducibility of the results.

Run procedure

The "run procedure" function of the Labii step widget allows users to perform experiments by following each step in a sequence. This feature provides voice over guidance for each step to help users navigate the experimental process.
